MOVIT, manufacturers of a verity of cosmetics products have emerged the overall winners for this year’s National Bureau of Standards (UNBS) quality Gala. This annual event held at Pearl of Africa Hotel in Kampala on Thursday recognized local companies whose products have exceedingly and consistently met the standards both at national and international level than others. The gala is also intended to promote quality of goods and encourage local businesses to produce products according to set standards for the buyers get value for money and safety of consumers.
Movit Products Limited was recognised as the overall winner of this year Quality awards and it also emerged winner within the cosmetics category.
Movit Company demonstrated cause for smile for being the overall winners. Bruce Mpamizo Movit’s director for sales and marketing said the excellence is partly attributed to adherence to UNRA quality assurance guidelines . He said the company produces a variety of 180 cosmetics products with the majority fully certified by UNBS dominating markets. He said UNBS has also been instrument in linking them to international certifying bodies for some of the products that UNBS has not yet working on.
Robert Kitenda the media and advertising manager for Movit Products Ltd said their products have remained in front position not only in Uganda but also in the region. He said the consistent support of UNBS quality assurance team in advising them on best practices have sustained then first position in the cosmetics industry despite mushrooming products on the market.“ Movit chairman and the founder Mr. Simpson Burundi always emphasizes quality above all other aspects in the production chain. The quality of our products is demonstrated by the increased demand and consumers’ positive response,’ said Kitenda.
With this year’s theme for the quality Gala “Promoting Ugandan manufactured Products” matches with the current slogan of Build Uganda Buy Uganda (BUBU) for competitiveness of products of high value on the market to enhance value for money among consumers.
This year, the categories included, the Overall Winner, 1st Runner up, Winner from the Small and Medium Scale Enterprises (SME) and Winner of the Services Award among others.
